PITTSBURGH, April 14, 2005 - PRNewswire - A subsidiary of Koppers UK Limited has agreed to buy the business and assets of Lambson Speciality Chemicals Limited, a subsidiary of the British chemical company Lambson Group Limited of Castleford, West Yorkshire. Terms were not disclosed. Koppers UK Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Koppers Inc.
The new venture will be called Koppers Lambson and will create new synergies for two of the leading specialty chemicals concerns in the United Kingdom.
"The combination of Lambson Speciality Chemicals with our extensive operational facilities and financial backing will allow us to further develop this chemical business," said Walter W. Turner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koppers. "Our bulk storage port facilities, laboratory testing capability, power generation and waste water treatment plant complement the Lambson processes and products."

As part of the sale, Lambson Speciality Chemicals Limited will transfer its operations and production units from its current site at Castleford in West Yorkshire to the Koppers UK Port Clarence site at Teesside. The leadership of Lambson Speciality Chemicals will relocate to the Koppers European Operations Head Office at Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire and will assist in the transition and growing the business.
Company officials said the relocation will be phased to minimize interruptions and maintain current business activities and customer contractual obligations.
